AMA approached me back in July and asked if I would locate and restore a 1973 Kawasaki Z1 900 to be earmarked for their Vintage 2011 AMA Raffle Bike to be given away at Vintage Days. We saw this as a great opportunity and got to work right away checking our inventory and came up with a fine specimen with lots of potential.
See August 2010 Poop The motorcycle was restored by our very own Master Mechanic, Hilo Ito, pictured above, left.

The bike utilizes many of the parts that Johnny’s has manufactured right here in Ohio. We had many contributors to the project, among them Avon Tyres donated the rubber, Ed Vanaman of ACE Powder Coating provided the finishing services, Bike Brite furnished the cleaning and polishing supplies. KK Motorcycle Supply and Buchanan Spokes also contributed to the project. The motor oil and lubricants were donated by Spectro Oil of Ohio. The bike has received many compliments and we think it came out super. It is currently on display at the AMA Museum in Pickerington OH, and will be featured at the Cycle World International Motorcycle Show at the Cleveland IX Center, January 28-30, 2011. This Z1 isn't the only bike being raffled off - the purchase of a raffle ticket also buys you the chance to win the brand new Kawasaki Z1000.
More complete information, purchase tickets from AMA online or call (614) 856-2222. Tickets are just $5 each or five for $20. The lucky winner will be chosen in a random drawing during AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, July 22-24, 2011. All proceeds benefit the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum. Good luck and thanks for supporting vintage motorcycle history.
